PONCIE (b. 1975) – American Artist
Poncie is an American artist renowned for his distinctive shading technique, utilizing mixed media on paper. “My big brother taught me to shade,” he reflects. “He showed me how to bring a drawing to life. God has given me a talent to share with the world.”
His artistic journey began at age six, sketching cartoon characters from 1980s television shows. Encouraged by his father, Poncie frequented the local library to explore How to Draw books. By junior high, he had already gained recognition, winning an art award and having his work featured on the cover of his school's graduation program.
Today, Poncie blends realism with retro pop culture, breathing new life into classic 80s cartoons and creating striking portraits. His work has garnered multiple awards at the Mayor’s Art Show in Lathrop, CA, further cementing his reputation in the art community.
In 2023, Poncie began offering his artwork for sale through social media under @poncieARTwork.
